2025-2026 Judged Shows:
The Lowcountry Fine Art Showcase will take place August 2- September 5, 2026 at Old Santee Canal Park in Moncks Corner. Over $70,000 in artworks are on display and available for sale at the Interpretive Center, which is open 7 days a week, 9am-5pm. Several works had already been sold by the August 9th opening reception. The show was judged by artist, Larry Moore. Rob Maniscalco won Best in Show (2nd year running!) for his Oil Painting, Reflections on Nothingness. Lindsey Maldonado took 1st and 2nd place in the Pastel category. Nancy DeMore took 1st place in Oil. Barry White won 1st place in Acrylic. Mary Glen Keadle took first place in Mixed Media, while Sue Selvey took 1st place in Watercolor. 2nd Place Ribbons were also awarded to Ty Davis (Acrylic), Barbara Friedman (Mixed Media), Pete Cole (Oil), April Cross (Drawing/Printmaking), and Dorothy Shromoff (Watercolor). June Gerber (Mixed Media), Willis Sanders (Drawing/Printmaking), Grace Hayes (Acrylic), Sue Selvey (Pastel), Kalah Crawford (Oil), and Catherine Ellis (Watercolor) all took 3rd place ribbons. Honorable mentions were awarded to Heather Hill Errigo (Pastel), Cynthia Massey (Mixed Media), Grace Hayes (Oil), Nathalie Watson (Mixed Media), and Lori Moen (Watercolor/Gouache). The Guild's Annual Judged Show was on display from December 5, 2025-January 29, 2026 at the Creek Collective at 222 St. James Ave in Goose Creek. Sixty works of art were entered by exhibiting members this year, with many available for purchase (several sold in the first month). This year's judge was Jordan Brown, curator at the Gibbes Museum of Art in Charleston, SC. Best in Show was awarded to Barbara Friedman for her work, "Dream a Little Dream." Best in Watercolor was awarded to Dorothy Shromoff, for "Shrimper's Early Rise." Best in Acrylic was awarded to Grace Hayes, for "Splash of Pink in Puddles." Best in Oils was awarded to Kay Bilisoly for "Always a Bridesmaid." Best in Pastels was awarded to Elise Hurley for "Treasure Hunt." Best in Drawing and Best in Mixed Media were awarded to Barbara Friedman for "Alphabet" and "40 Winks" respectively. Outstanding Merit awards were won by Larry Alexis for "Eat the Rich," Kay Bilisoly for "Bold Dreams," Linn Dreisbach for "Second Sunday in Charleston," Elise Hurley for "Funfetti," Dorothy Shromoff for "Superior Sunrise,", and Sue Selvey for "Iris Iridescence." Honorable Mention awards went to Ty Davis for "Trend Setter," Barbara Friedman for "The Wood," Grace Hayes for "To Dream of Clutter and Keepsakes," Lori Moen for "Stand Tall," Pauline Peiler for "Sweet Moments," and Willis Sanders for "Hope." Goose Creek Mayor, Greg Habib, selected "Hope," by Willis Sanders for this year's Mayor's Choice award. Thanks to all who entered!
This season's petite show was renamed as the "Small Works Show." Fifty-five works of art were entered this year, and are on display at The Creek Collective at 222 St James Ave in Goose Creek for the month of November, 2025. Many are available for purchase. This year's judge was Charleston-based artist, Pascale Sexton, known for her vibrant abstract expressionist landscapes and whimsical "Little Flat People." Best in Show was awarded to Lori Moen for her painting, "Fierce Elegance" Outstanding Merit Awards went to Sue Selvey for "Mayan Shaman" and Cynthia Massey for "Dove of Peace." Honorable Mention was awarded to Heather Hill for "Beach Day!" Vickie Hickman for "Peaches & Oranges," Dorothy Shromoff for "Sparkles," and Pauline Peiler for "Escape to Paradise." The Emerging Artist Award was given to Barbara Friedman for "The Girl and the Sly Cat." The People's Choice award was won by Lori Moen for her painting, Fierce Elegance. Thanks to all who entered. The show will be on display at the gallery until December 4, 2025.
The Goose Creek Artists Guild had the pleasure and privilege of being the opening show for the city's new art space, The Creek Collective, in May, 2025.
2024-2025 Judged Shows: Goose Creek Artists Guild sponsored a new show in August 2025, at the Old Santee Canal Park. This show is based on the format of the Old Santee Canal Show which ran for 31+ years and has been renamed the "Lowcountry Fine Art Showcase." The Goose Creek Artists Guild Annual Judged Show & Exhibitionwas held in February, 2025 at the City of Goose Creek Activity Center. Award-winning artist, Mary Hoffman, served as this year's judge. The reception was held on Tuesday, February 18, at 7pm. Best of Show was awarded to Sue Selvey for her watercolor painting, Corner Complements. Best in Media ribbons were awarded to: Lori Moen (Oil), Gary Smith (Acrylic), Heather Hill (Watercolor), Sue Selvey (Pastel), Barbara Friedman (Mixed Media), and Heather Hill (Drawing). Outstanding Merit ribbons were awarded to: Lori Moen (Oil), Sue Selvey (Oil), Dorothy Shromoff (Watercolor), Dorothy Shromoff (Pastel), Vickie Hickman (Mixed Media), and David Kemmerer (Drawing). Honorable Mention ribbons were awarded to Heather Hill (Mixed Media), Cynthia Massey (2 for Mixed Media), Sue Selvey (Pastel & Oil), and Larry Alexis (Acrylic).
This season's JudgedPetite Show was held at the Goose Creek Activity Center in November, 2024. Rana Jordahl served as this year's judge. Best in show was awarded to Lori Moen for her oil painting Cypress Nod to Giverny. Outstanding Merit prizes went to Lori Moen, Dorothy Shromoff, and David Kemmerer. Honorable Mention ribbons were awarded to: Dorothy Shromoff (2), Sue Selvey, and Belle Anderson.
2023-2024 Judged Shows: The Goose Creek Artists Guild Annual Judged Show & Exhibition was held February 1-29, 2024 at the City of Goose Creek Activity Center. Award-winning artist served as this year's judge. The reception was held on Tuesday, February 20 at 7pm. Best of Show was awarded to Sue Selvey for her watercolor painting, ".Cant Get There from Here" Awards for Best of Media were given in each of the following categories: Acrylic (Katherine Vandergriff), Oil (Sue Selvey), Drawing (Duncan Rabey), Pastel (Dorothy Schromoff), Watercolor (Sue Selvey), & Mixed Media (Willis Sanders). People's Choice was awarded to Lori Moen. Additional ribbons for Honorable Mention were awarded to Sue Selvey (3), Suzanne Glenn, Sally Fleming, & Heather Hill. The 2024 Mayor's Purchase Award went to Sue Selvey for her pastel painting, "A Massive Cover Up."
The 2023-24 Petite show was held at the Goose Creek Activity Center, November 1-30, 2023. Willis Sanders won best in show for his mixed media piece, "Ebony." Outstanding Merit was awarded to Vickie Hickman and Dorothy Schromoff. Additional Ribbons for Honorable Mention were awarded to Willis Sanders, Karol Skelley, Sue Selvey & Heather Hill. The People's Choice ribbon was awarded to Lori Moen. This year's judge was Damion Johnson, artist & educator from Orangeburg, SC.
2022- 2023 Judged Shows: The Goose Creek Artists Guild Annual Judged Show & Exhibition was held February 2-28, 2023 at the City of Goose Creek Activity Center. Award-winning artist Stephanie Shuler Hamlet served as this year's judge. The reception was held on Tuesday, February 21 at 7pm. Best of Show was awarded to Heather Hill for her pastel portrait "Lucy." Awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place were given in each of the following categories: Acrylic, Oil, Drawing, Pastel, Watercolor, & Mixed Media.
First place ribbons were earned by Laura Cody, Kay Bilisoly, Heather Hill, Al Champy, and Gary Smith. Other award winners included Dorothy Shromoff, Sue Selvey, Larry Alexis, Karol-Ann Skelly, Willis Sanders and Christopher Kyle,
The judged Petite show was held at the Goose Creek Activity Center, March 1-31, 2023 Sue Selvey won Best of Show for her Pink Convertible painting, and was also awarded ribbons for 1st and 3rd place. Laura Cody was awarded ribbons for 2nd place and Honorable Mention. Heather Hill was also awarded a ribbon for Honorable Mention.
2021-2022 Judged Shows: The Goose Creek Artists Guild Annual Judged Show & Exhibition was held March 2-30, 2022 at the City of Goose Creek Activity Center. Artist Robert Maniscalco (www.maniscalcogallery.com) served as this year's judge. The reception was held on Tuesday, March 15, 7pm. Best of Show was awarded to Alicia Daily, for her acrylic painting "View of My Field." Awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place were given in each of the following categories: Acrylic, Oil, Drawing, Pastel, Watercolor, & Mixed Media.
First place ribbons were earned by Alicia Daily, Sharon Mills, Dorothy Shromoff, Sue Selvey, and Christine Johnson. Other award winners included Larry Alexis, Belle Anderson, Heather Hill, Willis Sanders, Gary Smith, and Al Champy.
The Goose Creek Artists Guild annual Petite show was held March 2-30, 2022 at the Goose Creek Branch of the Berkeley County Library on Old Moncks Corner Road in Goose Creek. Works submitted were not to exceed 8x10 inches (including frame) and all entries were securely framed or gallery wrapped, with some displayed on a mini easel or stand.
