HEART TO ART
Community Participation Guidelines

Community Participation Guidelines

Heart to Art connects members of our community with Goose Creek Artists Guild (GCAG) artists who voluntarily create original artwork inspired by submitted people, pets, places, memories, experiences, or other meaningful subjects. Artwork is provided as a gift at no cost to the recipient.

ELIGIBILITY & SUBMISSIONS
  • Submitters must be 18 or older and reside in Berkeley, Dorchester, or Charleston County, South Carolina. A parent/legal guardian may submit an inspiration involving a minor.
  • There is no cost to submit. GCAG may limit submissions per person or household.
  • Submitters may provide a story, preferences, and reference photographs. By providing materials, the submitter confirms they have the right or permission to provide them for use in this project.
  • GCAG may decline submissions that are inappropriate, offensive, discriminatory, sexually explicit, excessively graphic, commercial/promotional, or inconsistent with the purpose of the project.

SELECTION & ARTISTIC FREEDOM
Submission does not guarantee selection or completion. Participating GCAG artists voluntarily choose projects based on their interests, availability, preferred medium, and creative inspiration.
Heart to Art is not a commissioned-art service. The submitter provides the inspiration; the artist provides the creative interpretation. Artists determine the medium, style, colors, composition, degree of realism, presentation, and final dimensions. Revisions or replacement artwork are not guaranteed.
Two-dimensional artwork will generally range from 5" × 7" to 16" × 20", excluding mats and frames. Framing and matting are not required. Three-dimensional and non-traditional works will be reasonably sized for display and transportation.

COST, COMPLETION & PICKUP
Completed artwork is provided free of charge. No purchase, commission fee, or donation is required. Optional donations may be made to GCAG to support future Guild programs.
GCAG cannot guarantee a specific artist, medium, completion date, or outcome. If selected, the recipient will be contacted when the artwork is ready and is responsible for arranging pickup within the timeframe provided by GCAG. GCAG is not responsible for shipping or delivery. Unclaimed artwork may be considered forfeited after reasonable contact attempts and expiration of the stated pickup period.

ARTWORK, PRIVACY & PUBLICITY
Photographs of completed artwork may be displayed by GCAG for Guild-related purposes, including its website, social media, newsletters, exhibitions, displays, promotional materials, and Heart to Art project documentation. The participating artist will be credited whenever reasonably practical.
Permission to display the completed artwork does not constitute permission to publish the submitter's name, personal photographs, identifying information, or inspiration story. GCAG will obtain separate permission before sharing a submitter's personal inspiration story.
The recipient receives the physical artwork; the artist retains authorship and applicable intellectual-property rights. Receipt does not automatically authorize commercial reproduction or use of the artwork.

PARTICIPANT ACKNOWLEDGMENT
By submitting a request, I acknowledge that I have reviewed these guidelines; understand that submission does not guarantee selection or completion; and understand that participating artists retain creative freedom.
